Vipassana Meditation and the Eightfold Path

A Seven-Day Retreat with Grahame White

July 24-31, 2020

The Buddha's most explicit path of practice to come out of suffering is the Eightfold Path. This is a set of eight practical approaches that bring Buddhist practice into the width and depth of our lives. In this seven-day course we will explore this Eightfold Path in relationship to Vipassana Meditation. We will discover that practising Vipassana is really living the Eightfold Path.

This retreat will be structured to suit beginners as well as seasoned meditators with an interest in exploring their own mind and body processes.

Each day will consist of sitting and walking meditation as well as nightly talks and daily guidance interviews.

An afternoon mindful yoga period will be offered on this retreat.

All are welcome.

Wollongong Meditation Courses 2020 Course One

Course One: Mindfulness for Busy People : On the Cushion and Off the Cushion ~ A Four Week Vipassana Meditation Course

Led by Grahame White

It is often thought that meditation needs a special time and place to be successful. On the contrary, if meditation is to help us to resolve our suffering while we function in life, then it needs to be a dynamic activity, part and parcel of our daily experience. Mindfulness helps us observe with more clarity and awareness, the movements of the mind. With an increase of awareness, you will notice that even in our busy lives, mindfulness will act like a break on the mind. This helps us to not get caught up with the fast-moving thoughts and emotive patterns we experience in daily life. Bringing the mind more peace and equanimity.

This 4 week course will be suitable for both beginners and season meditators. It will be held pver 4 weeks, 3 Thursday nights at Corrimal Library and 1 Sunday morning sitting at Thirroul Library. In it you will learn and practice Vipassana (Mindfulness) Meditation not only in a formal setting, but introducing strategies that will help bring the practice into our daily life. Various exercises and strategies will be taught to facilitate this goal.
